1. Welcome/Intro

It was noted that the focus of the meeting would be a short training session on how to chair WGs effectively.

2. In/outgoing WG Chairs

New Chairs Sandoche Balakrichenan (IoT) and Rob Evans (RIPE NCC Services) were welcomed.

3. RIPE WG Chairs Training Session

The RIPE NCC delivered a brief training session on how to be an effective chair, with a focus on effective timekeeping and dealing with difficult behaviour.

There was a discussion about the need to allow time for important discussions to take place in working group sessions. It was acknowledged that while WG Chairs needed to respect the meeting agenda and not go over time, sometimes this was unavoidable.

4. Update on RIPE Chair Selection Process

It was noted that an update on the RIPE Chair Selection Process and RIPE Chair Nominating Committee had been sent to the RIPE Discussion List.

5. PC/WG Chairs Interaction

There was some discussion about the need to have some younger candidates becoming WG Chairs, which would help in terms of succession planning.

6. Feedback on RIPE 78 Meeting Plan

There was some discussion about whether to have a dedicated RIPE community session in the meeting agenda.

It was noted that the Newcomers' Event would be run as a lunch at RIPE 79, which would avoid clashes with any BoFs on at the same time.

7. Administrative/Technical Overview of RIPE 78

Issues discussed and noted: whether Slido was an effective tool for asking questions, praise for the food, issues with the lighting, making sure enough water was available (noting that plastic water bottles are banned in Iceland) and the temperature in the rooms.

8. AOB

WG Chairs were encouraged to support newcomers by signing up for the RIPE Meeting Mentoring Programme.
