C. How Open Source Supports Your BGP Research

Massimo Candela, NTT

The presentation is available at:

Massimo Candela, NTT, gave an overview of the open-source BGPalerter tool, including information on how to access the tool and a detailed step-by-step example use case.

Pavlos Sermpezis, Aristotle University, asked for insights for building open-source tools for network operators. Massimo responded by saying that a lot of network operators don’t have much time to learn to use new tools, so it helps to provide examples and guides to make it easy for them.

Qasim Lone, RIPE NCC, asked if the tool has been run on historic data to get insights over longer time periods. Massimo said that he does not have personal experience of this but that others have carried out this kind of research.
