How to Become a Candidate

Nominations for Executive Board Election opens on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.

All those considering standing for election to the Board are advised to read the RIPE NCC Executive Board functions and expectations.

There will be an election to fill THREE seats at the RIPE NCC General Meeting 20-22 May 2026. Each seat is for a three-year term and ends in May 2029.

This page provides a step-by-step guide to help you through the process to become a candidate for the RIPE NCC Executive Board.

Step 1. Get nominated

You need five nominations

  • You will need nominations from at least five RIPE NCC Members to become a candidate.
  • Without five nominations, you will not be eligible to become a candidate.
  • Each nomination must be by a RIPE NCC member who is a registered LIR contact in the LIR Portal.
  • You can nominate yourself or be nominated by someone else.

Note: You do not need to be a RIPE NCC member yourself to become a board member.

Members can nominate individuals by filling in a Nomination Form.

The deadline to nominate a candidate is Wednesday, 29 April 2026.

Step 2. Confirm your eligibility

If you are nominated or nominate yourself, make sure you are eligible and meet the following criteria:

Step 3. Three actions you need to take

After you have received five nominations of support, we will contact you to confirm that you would like to become a candidate.

If you confirm this, there are three actions you need to take:

  1. Submit a Certified Identification Document
  2. Sign a Candidate statement confirming that you have never committed any fraud or other financial misconduct in any jurisdiction, your adherence to the Code of Conduct and whether you are an affiliate of certain legal entities.
  3. Submit a biography, motivation, photograph and video.

1. Submit a Certified Identification Document

You will need to supply the RIPE NCC with a copy of your official identification document which has been certified by an official.

Please DO NOT email your ID, we will supply you with a secure folder to upload your ID document.

Accepted Identification documents

  • Passport
  • Photocard Driving Licence
  • National Identity Card

You can ask the officials listed below to certify your identity document:

  • Notaries: Legal professionals who are trained in certification and are internationally recognised. They can certify documents with a notary seal, which is unique to each notary.

    Contact us if you have any questions or need further guidance at agm@ripe.net. We are happy to assist you in making sure your document certification meets the required standards.

2. Sign a Candidate Statement

You will need to sign a Candidate Statement confirming that you have never committed any fraud or other financial misconduct in any jurisdiction, your adherence to the Code of Conduct and whether you are an affiliate of certain legal entities.

We will send you a Candidate Statement to complete and sign via DocuSign.

3. Supply supporting media

As part of your candidacy you are required to provide members with information about yourself. This includes:

  • Biography and Motivation: Provide information about yourself and your motivation for standing for the RIPE NCC Executive Board.
  • Photograph: Please provide a high resolution (at least 720px) headshot of yourself.
  • Introduction video: A short video introducing yourself. Please use MP4 format and at least 720px resolution. Filming on your camera phone is accepted. Videos longer than 2 minutes will NOT be accepted.

We will supply you with a secure online folder to provide your certified ID, biography, motivation, photograph and video. We will send you a Candidate Statement to complete and sign via DocuSign.

Step 4. Take part in the election process

  • Your name will be added to the RIPE NCC website as a nominee and then on the Confirmed Candidate page once you have received five nominations, provided certified ID and signed the Candidate Statement.
  • You are expected to attend a RIPE NCC Open House online session on Wednesday 13 May 2026 which is an opportunity for the membership to ask you questions and for you to talk with the membership.
  • You are expected to attend the General Meeting session on Wednesday 20 May, either in person or online.
  • Ensure your campaign aligns with the Executive Board Code of Conduct and please maintain a professional and respectful tone at all times.

How we can support you

The General Meeting Organisation Team will:

  • Notify you when you receive your first nomination.
  • Notify you when you have received five nominations and ask you to confirm that you would like to be a candidate.
  • Provide you with access to an online folder where you can upload your Certified Identification Document, biography, motivation, photograph and video.
  • Send you a Candidate Statement via Docusign for you to sign.
  • Be available to answer any questions you have about the process at agm@ripe.net.
