As agreed at the 136th Executive Board Meeting, due to time constraints, the RIPE NCC Executive Board agreed to continue discussion on the subject on the board mailing list.
The RIPE NCC Executive Board's role in the process of the RIPE Nomination Committee (NomCom) is to confirm that the NomCom followed the process. Moreover, the RIPE NCC Executive Board's role is to confirm selections of RIPE Chair and RIPE Vice Chair.
The discussion on this subject resulted in the voting. Results of the voting are as follows:
Remco van Mook voiced dissent, which was noted. His objections were that the process had not been followed because the call for nominations had left out a critical matter: financial compensation for the role.
As a result of voting, the RIPE NCC Executive Board confirmed both selection of RIPE Chair and RIPE Vice Chair as well as that the process was followed as outlined in ripe-727 and ripe-728.
With its decision, the RIPE NCC Executive Board supports the selected RIPE Chair and RIPE Vice Chair in their respective roles.
With regards to the process itself, in the light of the feedback on the mailing list, the RIPE NCC Executive Board suggests a review of the current documents or process for the next selection. In particular, the issue of remuneration as part of the job description and/or recruitment process should be discussed by the community.
Remco van Mook, member of the Selection Committee for the RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund, brought up the subject of appointing a new member of the committee. During the course of discussion, a few options were talked over, one of which, recommended by the present committee, was to appoint Jaya Baloo as its new member.
As a result of discussion, the RIPE NCC Executive Board decided to follow the recommendation of the committee and to appoint Jaya Baloo as its new member.
