Become a RIPE NCC Member
If your organisation needs IPv6 address space and AS Numbers, and/or makes assignments to End Users or customers, you should become a RIPE NCC member. RIPE NCC members are also eligible to receive a one-time allocation of a /22 of IPv4 address space from the last /8 of IPv4 address space for their LIR account. Any legal entity or natural person can become a member of RIPE NCC.
An organisation that needs IPv6 address space or an AS number does not necessarily need to become a member of the RIPE NCC and can get independent resources.
Joining the RIPE NCC is a simple process that you can start right now by clicking the button. The first page contains important information that you will need to know and have with you during the application process. Further information on how the process works and what you can expect as a RIPE NCC member is provided below.
Please check the information on these pages before joining if any of these cases apply to you:
- I am a legacy resource holder and want to join the RIPE NCC
- I need a small amount of IPv6 address space that I don’t want to assign to customers
- Information about billing, costs and fees for RIPE NCC members
- The list of services available to RIPE NCC members
About the Membership Application Process
Once we receive your application form, we do a due diligence check. Once the official registration documents have been validated and we have approved your application we will send you the invoice by email and the RIPE NCC Standard Service Agreement (SSA) by DHL. The SSA for Dutch applicants will be sent by regular postal mail.
It’s possible to become a RIPE NCC member within two weeks, depending on the registration documents validation. Only one application will be processed at a time.
Once we receive your payment and signed SSA, we will activate your LIR account. At this moment, you will receive an email and all the information you need to know as a new member. You will then be able to log in to the LIR Portal, the secure web area for RIPE NCC members to manage everything related to their membership and the Internet number resources they hold, and start requesting Internet number resources.
It is possible for a legal entity to open additional LIR accounts and request one /22 IPv4 allocation for each additional account.
If you wish to open additional LIR accounts, you will need to submit a new application form. You will need to pay a one-time sign-up fee and an annual membership fee. For a detailed overview of the costs involved in becoming a member, please see the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme and the RIPE NCC Billing Procedure and Fee Schedule.
Also, you should take the following into account:
- The /22 IPv4 allocation you will receive is subject to the RIPE NCC Transfer Policyand can therefore only be transferred 24 months after the allocation date.
- Members with multiple LIR accounts are entitled to just one vote at RIPE NCC General Meetings. The oldest LIR account will receive the vote.
- Members opening an additional LIR account need to sign the LIR Account Agreement
Only one application will be processed at a time. We will proceed with any following application for a multiple LIR once the LIR account of the former application has been activated.
