Unsubscribing
People can only unsubscribe from the RIPE NCC members-only mailing list in the LIR Portal.
How to unsubscribe
Unsubscribe from the members-discuss mailing list:
- Log in to the LIR Portal with your RIPE NCC Access account.
- Go to the LIR Account page: https://my.ripe.net/#/account-details
- Scroll down to the Membership Mailing Lists section.
- There you can see the subscription settings for Members Discuss.
- Use the pencil icon to edit a person’s subscription status.
Troubleshooting issues
If you’re having trouble unsubscribing, here are some common problems and how to solve them:
Issue: Your LIR Portal account doesn't have permission to manage mailing list subscriptions.
Solution: If you cannot see the Membership Mailing Lists section, your account doesn't have the necessary permissions. Ask your LIR Portal admin to grant you access or update your subscription settings for you.
Issue: Your email address is not shown as subscribed to the mailing list in the LIR Portal and you’re still receiving the emails.
Solution: It’s possible someone else is forwarding them to you. Check the email headers of the email and ask the person to remove you from the forwarding list.
Issue: You don’t have an LIR Portal account so you can’t unsubscribe.
Solution: Ask the LIR Portal admin for your organisation to grant you access or update your subscription settings for you.
Issue: You unsubscribed using your Mailman 3 account but you’re still receiving the emails.
Solution: The members-discuss mailing list uses Mailman 3, but you can’t unsubscribe using your Mailman 3 account as you can other RIPE NCC/RIPE mailing lists. This is because members-discuss is members only and subscriptions can only be changed in the LIR Portal.
Subscribing
Only RIPE NCC members can subscribe to this mailing list. To subscribe:
- Log in to the LIR Portal with your RIPE NCC Access account and go to the LIR Account page: https://my.ripe.net/#/account-details
- Scroll down to Membership Mailing Lists to add your email to the members-discuss subscription.
- You will receive an email asking you to click a link to confirm your subscription.
You can change or add subscription email addresses in the "Subscribed Mailing Lists" section of the LIR Account Details page if you are a “Regular” or “Admin” for the LIR Account. "Billing" accounts cannot be used to change subscriptions.
Ticketing system emails and aliases
Do not subscribe an automated ticketing system email address to the mailing lists. This results in unwanted emails that disrupt discussion on the list.
Many members also use email role accounts or aliases (e.g. noc@example.com) for internally distributing emails in their organisation. Please make sure that emails from members-discuss@ripe.net will be delivered to LIR contacts within your organisation.
