Visa

In accordance with Uzbekistan's legislation, foreign citizens can enter Uzbekistan only if they have entry visas, with the exception of countries for whose citizens a visa-free regime is established in Uzbekistan.

You can find the list of such countries and the visa-free period on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

Citizens of some countries may apply for an e-visa. It takes about 3 business days to obtain an e-visa and it costs around $21.50 for a single entry.

Photo requirements:
1) photo dimensions 35x45 mm
2) quality 300 pixels (300 dpi), no more, no less
3) the face must occupy more than 80% of the photo space
4) plain white background
5) there should be no hats
6) glasses are allowed only if it is not sun protection

After you submitted the documents, you will receive an email confirmation with an application code and a payment link. 

Getting from the airport to the city centre

The Airports

By Car

The distance between TAS and the city centre is 8 km and your journey should take approximately 20 minutes. 

There are on-demand-car services: such as Yandex Go.

By Taxi

A fair price, depending on where you are staying in the city, would be between 6000 and 10000 UZS. Before you leave the terminal, you can get a voucher for a taxi downtown on the left side just after the potential baggage inspection. The cost is 50000 UZS. You can also book online and discover the comfort of pre-booked taxis. Be aware of any unofficial taxi drivers outside the exit to the airport.

The estimate for taxi fares in Tashkent is around €0.25 (SUM 3,033) per Km, the starting fee is around €0,50 (SUM 6,066) and waiting times are €4.72 (SUM 57,272) 

Public Transport

It is possible to travel to and from Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport by public transport. You can reach Tashkent city centre from the airport using Buses number 67, 94 and 11.

ATM

You can cash UZS and US dollars from Visa and MasterCard in designated ATMs. The number of ATMs is constantly increasing not only in the capital but also in other regions of the country. However, there are about 90 ATMs accepting cards from international payment systems in Uzbekistan, and most of them are located in Tashkent. Check this map to see the location of ATMs in Tashkent.

Banks exchange foreign money into sums, as well as the other way around. If you are exchanging money in the bank:

  • Bring your passport
  • Make sure your money is crisp and clean
  • Bank opening hours are 09:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Saturday

Language

Uzbek is the official language in Uzbekistan and Russian is also spoken.

In Uzbekistan, the power plugs and sockets are of type C and F. The standard voltage is 220 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

Weather

Uzbekistan has an extreme continental climate. It is generally warmest in the south and coldest in the north.

The hottest months are July and August. During this period the average temperature on the plains and foothills is 25°C-30°C, while in the south it reaches 41°C-42°C.

The best time to visit is during Spring (April to May) and Autumn (September to early November). It's typically warm and dry during these periods, with temperatures around 21°C to 30°C during spring and 14°C to 30°C during autumn.

September is a dry month with an average of 7mm (0.3in) rain. It rains on average for a total of 3 days. The average maximum daytime temperature is around 29.4°C (84.92°F).
