Senior Public Policy and Internet Governance Officer
The RIPE NCC is the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) for Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia. Next to being the authority on Internet number resources, it is a neutral source of data and analysis and a centre of Internet technical expertise.
We are seeking a Senior Public Policy and Internet Governance Officer, based in Brussels, who can engage the European Commission and Parliament and relevant European Union departments, agencies and institutions such as DG CNECT, the European External Action Service (EEAS) and relevant committees. You will have the opportunity to help shape and implement the RIPE NCC’s engagement with policymakers and contribute to our mission of enabling our members to operate and develop the Internet.
Senior Public Policy and Governance Officer
Location: Brussels.
Full-time (37.5 hrs)
In this role you will:
Be the first point of contact in representing the RIPE NCC as an authority on unique Internet number resources and secretariat for the RIPE community among government stakeholders in the EU as well as within international organisations
Track EU legislative and regulatory initiatives, and contribute to the internal assessment of their impact on Internet development and operations as they relate to the RIPE NCC’s mission.
Develop and maintain relationships with relevant organisations, institutions, and individuals.
Organise and coordinate engagement with EU legislators and governments on public policy proposals and implementation of those proposals to proactively ensure that policymakers have factual, technical knowledge of the Internet ecosystem
Develop external relations tactics for the EU that align with the RIPE NCC’s mission and strategy
Summarise and proactively communicate about upcoming changes in Internet and non-Internet related policies that affect the RIPE NCC’s internal and external stakeholders
Actively maintain and expand the RIPE NCC’s professional network of government officials and industry representatives within the EU
Help the RIPE NCC navigate the EU’s political and legal processes and other relevant jurisdictions in times of crisis
What we expect from you:
• At least seven years of relevant working experience in external relations, developing and implementing public affairs tactics, political communications and/or engagement with public policy
• University degree related to European and/or international relations or Public Affairs
• Professional fluency in English (French would be an additional asset)
• Proven track record of successfully working with policymakers, Members of European Parliament and their staff, European Commission staff and Internet industry representatives
An established public policy network and experience with community mobilisation
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Knowledge of various EU institutions and their decision-making processes

An annual base salary between € 66.000 and € 85.000 (before tax). This excludes any local legal mandatory allowances and our monetized secondary benefits.
5% end year allowance.
