Legal Counsel

Location: from our office at Amsterdam Central station and from home

37.5 hours per week

In this role, you will provide legal advice and carry out day-to-day operational activities for the RIPE NCC. The legal team is responsible for all legal aspects of the organisation, defining the RIPE NCC legal framework, providing advice and giving legal support for all RIPE NCC activities. We work closely together as a team, but you will also have the opportunity to work independently in your own domain. Integrity is also a really important aspect of the role. You need to maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to all information handled. 

In this role you will:

  • Research, analyse and interpret law and its impact to the organisation’s operations

  • Ensure that we comply with relevant laws and regulations

  • Support legal contract work internally. You will review, draft and update agreements

  • Draw up clear and sound legal advice, together with potential solutions on different legal issues

  • Manage and prioritise a variety of assigned legal activities and projects

  • Support compliance with GDPR


You will also be required to:

  • Maintain and administer legal documentation

  • Be proactive in sharing relevant legal information and developments with colleagues

  • Support the arbiter’s secretariat in all its administrative and legal duties when needed


What we expect from you:

  • Between two and five years’ work experience in a similar position

  • Specialisation in Contract Law and experience with GDPR

  • Masters’ in Law (LLM)

  • Fluent in English (verbally and in writing) and Dutch is a plus

  • Currently living in the Netherlands
