 Legal Counsel

Amsterdam Central Station

37.5 hours per week

As our new Legal Counsel you’ll join an experienced team and provide legal guidance and deliver daily operational activities for the RIPE NCC. The legal team is responsible for all legal aspects of the organisation, defining the RIPE NCC legal framework, providing advice, and giving legal support for all RIPE NCC activities. The team currently consists of four lawyers who work closely with each other.

In this role you will:

  • Research, analyse and interpret law and its impact to the organisation’s operations 
  • Ensure that we comply with relevant laws and regulations 
  • Support legal contract work internally. You will review, draft and update agreements
  • Draw up clear and sound legal advice, together with potential solutions on different legal issues 
  • Manage and prioritise a variety of assigned legal activities and projects
  • Support compliance with GDPR 
  • Work within a changing organisation towards an innovative self-management organisational structure (Holacracy)

You will also be required to:

  • Maintain and administer legal documentation
  • Be proactive in sharing relevant legal information and developments with colleagues
  • Support the arbiter’s secretariat in all its administrative and legal duties when needed 

We work closely together as a team, but you will also have the opportunity to work independently in your own domain. We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised, a team player and has good verbal and written communication skills. Integrity is also a really important aspect of the role. You need to maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to all information handled. 

What we expect from you:

  • Minimum of five years’ work experience in a similar position
  • Specialisation in Contract Law and experience with GDPR
  • Masters’ in Law (LLM) 
  • Fluent in English and Dutch (verbally and in writing)
  • Currently living in the Netherlands

What you can expect from us:

An annual salary between EUR 50,500 and EUR 63,000 (before tax) for a full-time week (37.5 hours per week). This includes the standard 8% annual “holiday pay” and a 5% end-of-year bonus.
