2024 Plans and Community Input

Item 1: Change proposals

We put out five proposals for changing RIPE Atlas behaviour and discussed them with the community. More information can be found on RIPE Labs.

Status: Completed in Q2 2024.

Item 2: UI renewal

We are working on restructuring and renewing pages of the user interface to make them more user-friendly.

Status: In progress

Item 3: Data backend renewal

We worked on renewing the big data backend and replaced it with a new technical solution in July 2024. This change, for the most part, is invisible to the consumers of RIPE Atlas results.

Completed in Q3 2024.

Item 4: Infrastructure renewal

We are working on containerising the infrastructure components and along the way modernising the OS, libraries and frameworks we depend on.

The component related to the communication with probes ("controllers") is almost 100% done, and we have started working on other components.

Status: In progress

Item 5: Implementing earlier proposals

We are working on implementing two earlier proposals: limitations on “probe farming” and supporting “measurement aggregators”.

Status: In progress

2023 Plans and Community Input
