Training and Certification Quarterly Planning

We launched this initiative in Q1 2022 and are open to improving what we publish here and how we do that. So let us know if there are ways we can better present our plans.

We will update this page as our activities progress and continue to share updates on RIPE Labs, on the RIPE NCC Membership Discussion and RIPE NCC Services Working Group (WG) mailing lists, and at RIPE Meetings and other events.

Q3 2026 Plans

Last updated: 11 June 2026

Item 1: Updating and Adding New E-Learning Animations and Videos

In response to steady feedback, we are adding and updating videos throughout the RIPE NCC Academy, adding accessibility options and sharing available on multiple platforms.

Status: In progress

Item 2: Development of an 'Internet Measurements' E-Learning Course

We are developing a new e-learning course for the RIPE NCC Academy about Internet Measurements, and how RIPE Atlas and RIPEstat can be used for those measurements.

Status: In progress

Item 3: New Certification Exam

We will create a new certification exam to assess the knowledge on designing an IPv6 deployment plan for different types of infrastructure, following the IPv6 Advanced e-learning course added to the RIPE NCC Academy in 2025.

Status: In progress

Item 4: Development of an ‘RIPE Fellowship’ E-Learning Course

We will develop a new e-learning course for the RIPE Fellowship program about the fundamentals of RIPE, RIPE NCC and the Fellowship program. Along with the e-learning course, we will develop a short assessment for the candidate that must be passed in order to apply for the program.

Status: In progress

Item 5: Update of BGP Routing Security Materials

We will add theory and hands-on labs on the "Route Leak Prevention and Detection Using Roles in UPDATE and OPEN Messages", what we call in short "BGP role-based security", defined in RFC 9234 and available in some router vendors. We will do this for both the in-person and the e-learning courses.

Status: In progress

Item 6: Update of IPv6 Advanced Materials

Segment Routing with IPv6 (SRv6) is a relatively new topic and there is interest in learning more about it. Our IPv6 Advanced courses only include theory on the topic. We will add SRv6 hands-on labs on both the in-person and the e-learning courses.

Status: In progress

Community Input on Planning

We design our learning options around the community’s needs, so we regularly ask for their feedback in different ways." To this effect, we launched a “Learning Survey” to collect sentiments on our learners’ preferences and needs. The insight will inform our short- to mid-term plans across the learning options – e-learning, in-person, webinars – we offer.

Archived Quarterly Plans

You can find our plans from the previous quarters on this page. The Q3 2026 plans will be archived once we publish the Q4 2026 planning.
