RIPE Atlas Quarterly Planning
We launched this initiative in Q2 2022, and we are open to improving what we publish here and how we do that. So let us know if there are ways we can better present our plans.
We will update this page as our activities progress and continue to share updates on RIPE Labs, on the RIPE NCC Membership Discussion, MAT Working Group (WG) and RIPE Atlas mailing lists, and at RIPE Meetings and other events.
Q3 2026 Plans
Last updated: 11 June 2026
Item 1: Implementing Earlier Proposals
We are working on implementing earlier proposals, two have been completed in Q2 2026 (limitations on “probe farming”, building features to allow selection of “dissimilar probes” in measurements) while one is still ongoing (supporting “measurement aggregators).
Status: In progress
Item 2: Probe Firmware Packaging
We are continuing our work on making the probe firmware process more streamlined. Currently we are working on OpenWRT for hardware probes.
Status: In progress
Item 3: Increase Membership Value/Support Particular Use Cases
As described in the Activity Plan 2025/2026, we started working on increasing membership benefits and improving support for particular use cases. In particular two specific use cases are in focus now: BGP leak detection/alerting and easy anchor monitoring.
Status: In progress
Item 4: RIPE IPmap renewal
We are going to work on renewing IPmap to align more on its intended functionality: IP infrastructure geolocation. In this period, we’ll be working on renewing the general architecture and we’ll be working on some of the intended geolocation engines.

Community Input on Planning
We want the community to contribute to our plans and suggest additional work items. Please share your comments with us or post them on the RIPE NCC Membership Discussion, MAT WG or RIPE Atlas mailing lists. We'll also monitor all the other channels where people talk about these services.
When we receive feedback that can significantly impact our planning or needs a further response, we will add it
We also invite you to participate in our user research to help us with the development and improvement of the tools and services.
Archived Quarterly Plans
You can find our plans from the previous quarters on this page. The Q3 2026 plans will be archived once we publish the Q4 2026 planning.
