Business Applications Quarterly Planning
We launched this initiative in Q4 2021, and we are open to improving what we publish here and how we do that. So let us know if there are ways we can better present our plans.
We will update this page as our activities progress and continue to share updates on RIPE Labs, on the RIPE NCC Membership Discussion and RIPE NCC Services Working Group (WG) mailing lists, and at RIPE Meetings and other events.
Q4 2025 Plans
Last Updated: 23 September 2025
Item 1: Develop an OAuth 2.0 Solution
In August 2025, we realised the OAuth2. solution as an alternative authentication method for making updates in the RIPE Database. We are now fine tuning the solution, by adding an option for maintainer selection.
Status: In progress
Item 2: Email Accuracy Project
Since last year, Yahoo and Google have introduced restrictions on sending emails. We proactively made changes to how we communicate with our members, and we intend to make further modifications to comply with these restrictions.
For this project, we are revising the nature and volume of our messaging and aligning the notifications of our services to be sure that all our emails are sent for the right purposes.
Status: In progress
Item 3: Data Warehouse Project
We are working on an internal project that brings several different data sources together and provides a continuous flow of data available in one place. In Q1 2025, we finalised the product selection for our Data Warehouse and have started the production phase. The planned deployment to production in Q2 (providing scheduled exports and ingests from the initially selected datasets and allowing reporting and analytics from existing tools) and extending the available datasets in Q3 was paused to allow infrastructural changes to our accounts at AWS. These changes have now been completed. We aim to go live in Q3 and finish the previous planned in Q4.
Status: In progress
Item 4: Automate monitoring of End Users
We already monitor the registration details of our members, receiving automatic notifications of significant changes, and we will start doing this for approximately 20,000 independent resource holders as well. This will help us achieve faster processing of requests, as there will be no need to cross-check and potentially correct outdated registration data as it has already been verified.
In Q3, we started this project and extended the existing monitoring and notification software (in use for Members) to also accommodate End Users. This will allow us to bring "End Users with resources" under monitoring a.s.a.p.
Status: In progress, expected to completed in Q4
Item 5: Stop Sponsoring (LIR Portal)
The LIR Portal is our in-house platform that allows members to easily and securely manage their Internet resources and registration information.
The primary goal of this project is to offer members a self-service and automated option to stop the sponsorship of End Users and their resources. The frontend will be developed and deployed in the same modern frontend stack used across other parts of the RIPE Portal. This will allow the reuse of UI components, reduce development effort, and improve user experience.
Status: In progress
Community Input on Planning
We want the community to contribute to our plans and suggest additional work items. Please share your comments with us or post them on the RIPE NCC Membership Discussion or RIPE NCC Services WG mailing lists. We'll also monitor all the other channels where people talk about these services.
We also invite you to participate in our user research to help us with the development and improvement of the tools and services.
Archived Quarterly Plans
You can find our plans from the previous quarters on this page. The Q4 2025 plans will be archived once we publish the Q1 2026 planning.
