We are looking for an enthusiastic Conference Coordinator to help set a high standard for our conferences. You will be organising conferences and other events  for the technical Internet community all over the RIPE NCC’s service region, with a team of fun-loving and passionate professionals.

Conference Coordinator (Events Organiser)

Location: Amsterdam office (Central Station)

Full-time (37,5 hours)

As Conference Coordinator you will join a team organising RIPE NCC’s external conferences and events in Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia. You will organise and support RIPE meetings, regional meetings, government roundtables, hackathons, lunches and online webinars.  The focus is on delivering unforgettable events for attendees and building on our relationships with the members and the technical Internet community. You will be a part of a small, diverse, and ambitious team based in Amsterdam. You will report to the Chief Community Officer The position is based in Amsterdam and you will spend about 10% of your time travelling.

In this role, you will:

    •    Participate in the yearly conference planning, prepare the event budget, monitor expenditures and ensure proper invoicing and accounting

    •    Liaise with meeting hosts, Programme Committee, Working Group Chairs, speakers, internal and external stakeholders

    •    Scout and secure hotel and social venues

    •    Negotiate contracts with venues and various suppliers (AV, translations, shipping)

    •    Generate meeting announcements and keep the conference calendar and web pages up to date

    •    Coordinate and ship support material and equipment and facilitate meeting related requests (such as visa invitation letters, and special needs)

    •    Identify and contact potential and existing sponsors and negotiate sponsorship deals

    •    Coordinate the staff involvement and post-event follow-up, reporting and evaluation of the meeting

    •    Play an active role in identifying opportunities to improve the sustainability of our events and implementing new practices that align with our values.

What we expect from you:

    •    Minimum three years experience in a role of organising events of 500+ attendees

    •    Bachelor’s degree in Events Management, Hospitality or any other related field

    •    Excellent planning, project management and organisation skills

    •    Ability to meet deadlines

    •    Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    •    Able to work independently and on several projects in parallel

    •    Familiar with working in and adapting to different cultural environments

    •    Proactive and able to come up with creative solutions to problems

    •    Experience organising online events is a plus

    •    An affinity with the Internet Industry is a plus

As the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) for Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia, the RIPE NCC provides Internet number resources, such as IPv4 and IPv6 address space and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) to its members (ISPs, governments, universities, etc.). It also offers other information services related to the technical coordination of the Internet. Our strongest asset is our staff.
