RIPE Labs Editor

Department: Communications

Full-time or four days a week

We are currently revamping RIPE Labs, and to ensure it succeeds we need someone who is full of energy and enthusiasm for the RIPE community, who can source and produce excellent content and above all, someone who has the drive to make sure it reaches its target audience with impact. For the position of RIPE Labs editor, we’re looking for a true connecter who can act as an expert, investigator, writer, editor and promoter all in one. 

In this role you will:

  • Source, create and manage RIPE Labs content and ensure activities receive exposure to increase awareness and participation
  • Ensure RIPE Labs is up to date in terms of the latest publishing standards
  • Actively engage in technical communities, conferences, blogs, online chats, etc.
  • Build community engagement with RIPE Labs
  • Build solid connections with experts in and around the organisation
  • Collaborate with other publishing partners in the industry
  • Follow Internet industry developments, identifying issues and services that might be useful and have an impact on the RIPE community

What we expect from you:

  • Proven track record in a similar position
  • Excellent understanding of the RIPE community and its needs
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills
  • The ability to maintain a high editorial standard for RIPE Labs – in terms of quality and editorial style
  • A proficient writer
  • Good awareness of what’s interesting and relevant for the Internet community
  • Able to work creatively with content. You are comfortable working with digital formats such as podcasts or videos as well as with text.
  • A curious and flexible mindset

  • An annual salary between EUR 50.500 and EUR 70.000. This includes the standard 8% annual “holiday pay” and a 5% end-of-year bonus

The Team

Communications Department

An international team of ten communications professionals works across the organisation to help us engage with our members and the wider Internet community. The wide service portfolio of the RIPE NCC and our audience’s depth of technical knowledge requires creativity and an ability to keep pace with the rapidly changing tech landscape. You will join a highly-skilled team of communications, marketing, events and design experts. If you are an out-of-the-box thinker, a keen collaborator, an authentic and empathetic team member, and you like to work on exciting projects, we think you’d do well here.  

About the RIPE NCC

The RIPE NCC is a not-for-profit organisation founded on the belief that the Internet should be governed openly, transparently and together with the wider Internet community. We are one of the oldest Internet organisations in Europe and are proud of our legacy.

Our strongest asset is our staff. We bring together more than 160 people from more than 38 countries in our modern, vibrant office in the east wing of Amsterdam Central Station. Our official working language is English, but more than 30 languages are spoken by our colleagues.
