The RIPE Chair Selection Process

The RIPE Chair selection process is an open, transparent procedure for selecting RIPE Chairs and RIPE Vice Chairs that is endorsed by the RIPE community.

The community reached consensus on the process through discussion on the RIPE Chair Discussion mailing list. A full description of the RIPE Chair selection process is provided in ripe-727.

2020 RIPE Chair Selection

In September 2020, the RIPE Nominating Committee (NomCom) selected Mirjam Kühne and Niall O'Reilly as the new RIPE Chair and Vice Chair. The RIPE Chair and Vice Chair are elected for a five-year term, with a two-term limit.  A report detailing the selection process conducted by the 2020 NomCom is available.

The next RIPE Chair and Vice Chair selection process, which includes the formation of a new NomCom, will begin in 2025.
