Are you an experienced and inspiring Marketing and Communications Manager who is able to lead and motivate a team of ten professionals and take them to the next level? Are you eager to use your innovative mindset to improve the awareness of the services that the RIPE NCC provides to its members?

We are looking for an ambitious and inspirational native English speaker:

Marketing and Communications Manager (new position!)
Location: Amsterdam Central Station
37.5 hours per week (4 days working week is possible)

As a Marketing and Communications Manager, you will deliver a robust marketing and communication strategy and together with your team, you will be responsible for its successful implementation. Reporting directly to our Chief Communications Officer, you will fortify the RIPE NCC’s position as one of the Internet’s core organisations, bringing an improved focus on our members. Communicating in a variety of mediums comes naturally to you, you lead with empathy and are great at developing your team to bring out the best in them. You should also be comfortable organising large events with many moving parts and work well with a diverse, international stakeholder body.

In this role, you will:

  • Define, develop and evaluate the marketing and communication strategy based on the different membership needs and knowledge of organisational objectives.
  • Understand our value proposition and know how to translate this into compelling marketing and communication experiences (on- and offline).
  • Increase the awareness of the RIPE NCC's entire service portfolio to its membership of almost 20,000 organisations spread over 100 countries.
  • Safeguard the RIPE NCC's strong reputation as a professional and trusted Regional Internet Registry and one of the Internet’s foundational organisations with a legacy of technical excellence.
  • Ensure the delivery of world-class events that aim to bring both the membership and wider Internet community together to further develop their businesses and the future of the Internet. 
  • Lead, motivate and inspire a professional team of ten communication experts to assist you in developing and implementing an innovative style of communicating.

What we expect from you:

  • A track record of at least seven years’ experience in developing marketing and communications strategy and executing its implementation.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in managing a team of professionals.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • The ability to build and maintain global relationships at all levels and with all different cultures.
  • Competencies: outgoing personality, lots of energy, visibility in the organisation, social and engaging personality, helicopter view, presentation skills, ambition, analytical skills.

This job requires some travelling to various locations throughout Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East, usually twice per month for 3-4 days.

It would be nice if you could also:

  • Have experience in change management
  • Speak (fluently) another language besides English
  • Have experience in an IT environment

Our international team of ten colleagues is responsible for collaborating across the organisation to effectively engage with our members and the wider Internet community. The vast service portfolio of the RIPE NCC and range of technical knowledge of our audience requires creativity, innovation and the ability to keep pace with the rapidly changing tech landscape. The team is highly-skilled and have the ability to work as a seamless unit, but also break off into their own areas of focus. The RIPE NCC is a not-for-profit organisation founded on the belief that the Internet should be governed openly, transparently and together with the wider Internet community. We are one of the oldest Internet organisations in Europe and are proud of our legacy.
