RIPE NCC and Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Name Association Sign Memorandum of Understanding

ipv6 dns cooperation news announcement

The MoU formalises the existing relationship between the RIPE NCC and APTLD, which represents the interests of country code top-level domain (ccTLD) registries in the Asia Pacific region, many of whom are also RIPE NCC members.

“The RIPE NCC is very happy to be solidifying our partnership with APTLD. As membership organisations, we share a common interest in serving the growing Internet community in Western Asia,” said Axel Pawlik, Managing Director of the RIPE NCC. "This is certainly not the beginning of our work together, but we look forward to strengthening our cooperation, particularly in developing and delivering training and capacity building for our respective members and our shared community."

The MoU focuses on coordinating the RIPE NCC and APTLD's involvement with Internet coordination bodies such as ICANN, raising awareness about IPv6 adoption and its importance to the future growth of the Internet, and providing technical training on such topics as IPv6, security and DNS.

“The signing of the MoU is a milestone development for APTLD,” said Lim Choon Sai, APTLD Board Chair. “With our association consistently expanding across the Middle East and Eurasia, teaming up with the RIPE NCC will enable APTLD to benefit from its extensive expertise and proven operational excellence in the region. Likewise, the RIPE NCC is poised to build on APTLD's high profile and exposure across a vast region where our remits and operation overlap. This win-win collaboration should certainly propel the Internet's advancement and benefit local end users across the region.”

This MoU is the latest formalised agreement for greater cooperation between the RIPE NCC and one of the many external organisations we work with, including governments, regulators, technical bodies, industry groups, law enforcement agencies, academic institutions and others.
