RIPE NCC Quarterly Sanctions Transparency Report Published

We have published our most recent Quarterly Sanctions Transparency Report. These reports document the number of potential sanctions cases that require investigation by our staff and the outcome of these investigations.

As described in the report, we recently removed sanctions-related restrictions from 49 RIPE NCC members and End Users who can now access our services again. We explained the reasons behind this change in a recent RIPE Labs article.

3. Community and Engagement

RIPE 87 Call for Presentations

The RIPE Programme Committee is seeking content proposals for plenary sessions, lightning talks and BoFs for RIPE 87. The meeting will be hybrid, so proposals for both in-person and virtual presentations are acceptable. Submit your proposals by Monday, 18 September here.

RIPE Fellowship and RACI

Applications are open for the RIPE Fellowship and for RACI. Both programmes cover the cost of RIPE Meeting tickets, travel and accommodation. Apply for RIPE 87 by Monday, 11 September.

CAPIF 2 

The second Central Asia Peering and Interconnection Forum (CAPIF 2) will take place on 19-20 September 2023 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Check out the agenda and register for the meeting here.

MENOG 23 Call for Presentations

MENOG 23 will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 11-12 October 2023. The call for presentations for this meeting is open until 12 September 2023.

Call for Nominations for 2023 Rob Blokzijl Award

The call for nominations is open for the 2023 Rob Blokzijl Award. This award honours individuals who have made outstanding technical or operational contributions to Internet development. The deadline for nominations is 29 October 2023, 23:59 UTC.

RIPE Policy Proposals

-- 2023-03 Review Phase (Voluntary Transfer Lock)

Policy proposal 2023-03, “Voluntary Transfer Lock,” is now in the Review Phase. Send in any comments you have on the draft by 31 August.

-- 2023-01 Last Call for Comments (Reducing IXP IPv4 assignment default size to a /26)

Policy proposal 2023-01, “Reducing IXP IPv4 assignment default size to a /26,” is now in the Concluding Phase. Send in any final comments on the proposal by 8 September.

-- 2023-02 Proposal Implemented (Minimum Size for IPv4 Temporary Assignments)

Policy proposal 2023-02, "Minimum Size for IPv4 Temporary Assignments," has now been fully implemented.

-- Last Call for Draft Document: RIPE NCC Staff Participation in the RIPE Community

This draft document was revised and has re-entered Last Call. The document outlines how RIPE NCC staff can and should participate in the RIPE community and how the RIPE community welcomes participation by RIPE NCC staff. The deadline for comments is 04:00 UTC on Monday, 4 September 2023.

Over the past month, people have been submitting topics and joining discussions on sustainability at RIPE Meetings, RIPE Meeting travel, dump uploading and more. If you haven’t signed up yet, do it today and come join the chat on the RIPE NCC Forum.

Join us for an Open House on the Internet in Hungary on Thursday, 31 August from 10:00-11:30 UTC (12:00-13:30 CEST).

-- Series: Community Projects Fund Recipient Updates 2022 

Join us for an Open House series offering updates from last year’s Community Projects Fund recipients. The series includes three events taking place on 13 September, 21 September and 27 September, each from 10:00-11:30 UTC (12:00-13:30 CEST).

Training Courses and Webinars in September

Our courses for the month of September are open for RIPE NCC members to register. We will hold in-person training courses in Thessaloniki on the RIPE Database and BGP Security. We will also hold webinars on the RIPE Database, Basic IPv6 Protocol Security, an Introduction to RPKI and IPv6 in the RIPE Database.

4. Organisational Update

James Kennedy Appointed Chief Registry Officer

We are pleased to announce the appointment of James Kennedy as the RIPE NCC’s new Chief Registry Officer. James will begin his new role in September. We also want to thank Felipe Victolla Silveira for his dedication and hard work in leading our registry operations over the past five years:
