SEE Fellowship

The SEE Fellowship provides basic assistance for successful candidates from South East Europe to participate in the SEE Meeting.

The purpose of the fellowship is to support successful candidates in their professional or academic career development, allow them to participate in discussions, and to network with industry peers and others at the event.

The RIPE Fellowship programme is currently on pause as all of our future meetings are taking place online due to COVID-19 and participation is free of charge and open to all.

3. Application Process

An internal selection committee will review all applications and contact successful candidates two weeks after the application deadline.

The RIPE NCC will book plane tickets and accommodation for SEE Fellows. The candidate is responsible for providing all necessary details to our travel team in a timely manner.

4. Visas

If a visa is needed, the RIPE NCC will provide an invitation letter but the candidate is responsible for applying for the visa themselves.

5. Selection Criteria

The SEE Fellowship aims to increase diversity within the SEE Meeting. It provides individuals from underrepresented regions or minority backgrounds, or others unable to attend without funding, the opportunity to participate to the meeting. With this in mind, the internal selection committee will evaluate all submissions and make a selection.

The committee will give preference to candidates able to demonstrate the strongest motivation to attend the meeting. In addition, the committee will aim to achieve:

  • a good geographical spread among successful candidates
  • diversity of stakeholder groups and interests
  • gender balance

6. Deliverables

The selected RIPE Fellows will be expected to:

  • Attend the entire SEE Meeting
  • Contribute to at least one session (asking a question or making a comment at the mic)
  • Submit a short (500 words) evaluation of their experience attending the meeting. A selection of those evaluations will be published on RIPE Labs and available under SEE Fellowship on ripe.net.

7. Optional Deliverables

The selected RIPE Fellows are encouraged to:

  • Submit a presentation proposal to the SEE Programme Committee
  • Attend the evening social events during the SEE Meeting
