Executive Board Election

The RIPE NCC is now receiving nominations to the RIPE NCC Executive Board. The terms for the following RIPE NCC Executive Board members will expire at the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) in May 2022:

  • Ondřej Filip
  • Remco van Mook

There will be an election to fill the two vacant seats at the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) on 18-20 May 2022. These seats will be filled for three-year terms.

Those interested in standing for election to the board are advised to read the RIPE NCC Executive Board - Functions and Expectations.

Nominations

Board members do not have to be RIPE NCC members themselves. You can nominate yourself or be nominated by a member of the RIPE NCC.  All nominees must accept the nomination and confirm that they agree to follow by the Code of Conduct for Executive Board candidates. They are then listed as nominees on the Nominations Support page.

A nomination for the appointment of a member of the Executive Board requires the written support of at least five members. You must be a RIPE NCC member and a registered LIR contact to support a nomination.

You can nominate an individual by completing the AGM Nomination form online.

The nomination period will end on Wednesday 27 April 2022, following the guidelines outlined in article 9 of the RIPE NCC Articles of Association.

The number of support nominations is updated every working day and may differ from the number of support mails in the archives.

Confirmed Candidates

Executive Board nominees become eligible for candidacy after:

  • Receiving five nominations of support from RIPE NCC members. 
  • Submitting a certified copy of an official identification document.
  • Submitting a signed copy of the Candidate Statement declaring their adherence tothe Code of Conduct and that they never committed fraud or other financial misconduct in any jurisdiction.

Nominees who fulfil these criteria are posted on the Confirmed Candidates page. Members will vote for confirmed candidates to fill vacant seats on the Executive Board.

Disqualification of Candidates

An Executive Board candidate may be disqualified if from the moment they become candidates until the period to raise any objections against the draft minutes of the General Meeting has lapsed:

  • they violate the CoC, or
  • it is proved that they have committed fraud or other financial misconduct.
Code of Conduct Violations 

RIPE NCC members will be able to report violations of the Code of Conduct. The evaluation of whether a behaviour violates the Code of Conduct will be conducted by the designatedCode of Conduct Team. Violation will result in disqualification of the candidate.

Financial misconduct

The RIPE NCC will assume the correctness of the statements provided by the nominees and will not judge whether or not a certain action of a nominee constitutes fraud.

If it turns out a member of the Executive Board committed fraud (e.g. if we become aware of a relevant court decision), while he or she signed a statement saying that he/she had never committed any fraud or other financial misconduct in any jurisdiction, the Executive Board will ask this member to resign. If this member refuses to step down, the Executive Board should propose to the General Meeting that he or she will be suspended or dismissed. A resolution to suspend or dismiss a member of the Executive Board shall require a majority of at least two thirds of the votes cast as per article 9.3 of the Articles of Association.

Alternatively, the RIPE NCC could consider going to court and claiming the annulment (vernietiging) of the resolution of appointment of this board member. The legal proceedings can be initiated by the Executive Board (but only within one year of the date of appointment). Please note that this is not an easy process.
