NRO NC Nominations - November 2023

The call for nominations to fill two seats on the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) is open. A single list of nominees will be used to fill both seats.

This is a call for nominations from the RIPE NCC service region to fill two seats on the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC).

The RIPE NCC Executive Board will select one candidate from the list of nominees to fill the first seat for a three year term, starting in January 2024 and ending on 31 December 2026. The selected candidate will then be removed from the list of nominees, and the remaining nominees will be eligible for election for the second seat.

The second seat will be filled by an election held during RIPE 87 from the remaining pool of eligible nominees. The election is to fill the seat for the remainder of the three-year term started by James Kennedy in January 2023 and ending on 31 December 2025. The candidate elected will therefore serve on the NRO NC for two years of the three year term. James is stepping down from his position on the NRO NC to take on his new role as the RIPE NCC's Chief Registry Officer.

The election to fill this seat will take place at RIPE 87 from 27 November - 1 December 2023.

NRO NC Nomination Process

About the NRO Number Council

The NRO NC was established in October 2004 under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the five Regional Internet Registries and ICANN. The NRO NC is made up of three individuals from each of the five Regional Internet Registry (RIR) service regions. Of these three seats, two positions are filled by the election of nominees from each RIR service region. These members of the NRO NC act as individuals and do not represent an RIR or act as representatives of any organisation. One seat is currently filled by Sander Steffann and the other by James Kennedy.

Each RIR’s Executive Board also appoints one person from its respective region to serve as a representative for that RIR. For the RIPE NCC, Hervé Clément currently holds this position.
