Delivering the WSIS+20 Outcomes Through Joint Capacity, Accountability and Inclusivity in Internet Governance This session will examine the review of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20) and its next steps. Participants will explore ways to implement the WSIS+20 Outcome Document and assess what financing and participation mechanisms are needed to effectively address digital divides and accelerate progress towards the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We will also discuss the increasing risks of Internet fragmentation, and the role of the WSIS framework and Internet Governance Forum (IGF) – with due recognition of the National and Regional Initiatives – in promoting joint capacity, accountability and inclusivity.

Deploying Open Standards for Internet Scalability, Resilience and Security This session will examine how open Internet standards, shaped and developed within the IETF by the technical community, are deployed across a wider and increasingly complex ecosystem of standards bodies, policy venues and industry-led fora, with frequent overlaps in topics and influence. The session will map today’s open standards landscape and explore whether we have a shared understanding of the respective roles of the technical community, regulators, major companies and other stakeholders, and why this matters for the Internet’s interoperability, resilience and security. With speakers from different backgrounds, we will discuss key challenges and opportunities, and explore frameworks and strategies that support international collaboration and consensus-building in standardisation.
