Remembering Alan Barrett
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Alan Barrett, a longstanding and respected member of the Internet community.
Alan was a committed advocate for Internet development in Africa and made a lasting contribution to Internet development in the region. He was instrumental in setting up AFRINIC and later went on to serve as its CEO. Alan also served many years on the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) and more recently, represented the Internet numbering community on the ICANN Board of Directors.
On behalf of everyone at the RIPE NCC, we would like to express our sincere condolences to Alan’s family, friends and former colleagues at AFRINIC, and to everyone in the wider Internet community who will feel his loss.
