Introduction

The current Charging Scheme model is based on the principle that members should have equal fees for each LIR they hold. This model has no categories and no differences in fees between LIRs: “One LIR, one fee”.

RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2015

For 2015, the annual fee per LIR will be lowered by 9% to EUR 1,600 (EUR 1,750 in 2014).

Based on existing RIPE Policy, the separate charge of EUR 50 per Provider

Independent number resource assignment will be continued. Independent Internet number resources are: IPv4 and IPv6 PI assignments; anycasting assignments; and IPv6 IXP assignments. AS Numbers and legacy Internet resources that are registered with a member are excluded from this separate charge

A separate charge of EUR 50 will apply for legacy Internet resources that are registered via a sponsoring LIR. The sign-up fee for new LIRs will be continued and will remain at EUR 2,000. Legacy Internet resource holders that become a member do not have to pay a sign-up fee.

Billing and Invoicing

The independent Internet number resource information for members will be determined based on data gathered on 30 September 2014. All members will be notified of their annual fee for 2015 by email in the last quarter of 2014. Invoices will be sent in January 2015.

Legacy Internet Resource Holder Fees

Legacy Internet resource holders have different ways in which they can engage with the RIPE NCC following from the RIPE policy, “RIPE NCC Services to Legacy Internet Resource Holders”.

For the Charging Scheme, the following ways to engage are described:

  1. Legacy Internet resource holders can become members –  see above for the fees that apply
  2. Legacy Internet resource holders can engage a sponsoring LIR. An annual EUR 50 fee per Legacy Internet resource will apply. AS numbers are excluded from this charge.
  3. Legacy Internet resource holders can conclude a separate direct agreement with the RIPE NCC. A one time sign-up fee and a fee identical to the LIR fee will apply.

The table below provides an overview of the different fees for the different scenarios for Legacy Internet resource holders.
