Roundtable Meeting for Governments (Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia)

roundtable meeting internet governance

On Monday, 7 December 2020, we held a joint online meeting with ICANN for government representatives and regulators from Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia. More than 70 participants joined the meeting.

We started the event with presentations on the Internet Number Registry (RIR) system, actionable insights from our recent Country Reports on Russia and Central Asia and an update on how IPv6 can enable 5G and IoT growth in the region.

During the second part of the meeting, ICANN presented on its functions and role in the Internet Names and Numbers system, principles and opportunities for dialogue with governments (including GAC and bilateral agreements), and gave an update on DNSSEC and Universal Acceptance for using local languages in the DNS.

The full meeting agenda and presentation slides are available online.
