Around 50 representatives from various governments, regulators and law enforcement agencies attended the meeting. Among the topics discussed were global IPv6 deployment, ensuring the accountability of key Internet institutions, and Internet security. Also discussed was law enforcement's need for the maintenance of accurate public registration data, and associated difficulties created by IPv4 address sharing technologies.

The meeting was held as part of the European Commission's Internet Governance Week in Brussels. RIPE NCC staff also attended an open multistakeholder session as part of the High Level Group on Internet Governance's meeting on 23 January.

The RIPE NCC has run Roundtable Meetings since 2005. They have proven to be an effective way of stimulating dialogue with and between regulators, and updating them on issues affecting the RIPE community. In 2017, the RIPE NCC is also planning to hold Roundtable Meetings in the Middle East and Russian/CIS region.

Presentations from the day are available online.
