I would prefer keeping this expensive server running until the end of 
the service contract to at least justify buying an expensive hardware (a 
type of hardware I would normally not buy and can not use right now 
elsewhere in the network or datacenter). If I replace it earlier, I 
would have to justify why. Any decommissioning of the existing hardware 
before that date is mostly a waste of money.
