You're talking about Directive 2002/58/EC, which is probably the best thing
to hit the telecommunications lawbook since 2000/31/EC.

This is the "spamming is illegal" law (it's got one minor exemption for
businesses sending email to their own customers). The only people I know
opposed to it are the spammers. Does that include you?
