CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES

TERENA Working Groups
Prior to the conference TERENA Working Group meetings will take place.
During these meetings the different Working Groups will introduce their
current activities and discuss various high priority topics. The meetings
are open to all those who are interested.

IPng TUTORIAL
During this one day tutorial, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 14,
09:00-17:00, IP New Generation will be discussed by Steve Deering from
Xerox Park, USA. This tutorial aims to instruct those that already have a
working knowledge of the subject material.
The fee for the tutorial (including lunch) is USD 250.-, Desk registration
is USD 300.-. Please note that this is not included in the conference
registration fee. It is recommended that you pre-register as soon as
possible for the tutorial as the number of places is limited.

NETWORK TECHNOLOGY TRAINING WORKSHOP
May 7 - 14, 1995

A workshop on the installation and use of networking technology is
being planned for the week preceding the conference.

The workshop will cover all aspects of dial-up & TCP/IP connectivity,
and, thus, it is ideally suited for regions with little or no
networking infrastructure. Participants will learn the fundamentals
of establishing and maintaining a TCP/IP network and becoming part
of the global Internet. Topics covered include IP addresses, routers,
name servers, network security, monitoring, network management, and
all aspects of networking over dial-up modems.

The workshop is intended primarily for participants from the
Middle East region, but applications from outside this area will be
accepted if places are available.  There will be a limit of approximately
30 participants.

DEMONSTRATIONS
At the Conference there will be a demonstrations area where participants
may visit a number of stands to see displays and demonstrations of various
projects and applications of networking services for the academic
community.

NETWORKING FACILITIES
A terminal room will be available to conference participants with computers
and terminals connected to the Internet for electronic mail and other
network services.

CONFERENCE EVENTS

All participants and accompanying persons are invited to attend the
following events. We hope these events will provide an opportunity to
renew old friendships and to create new ones with colleagues from all
over the world.

- OPENING RECEPTION
Monday, May 15 from 18:30 - 19:30
You will be able to enjoy light refreshments and entertainment in an
enchanting environment.

- GALA DINNER
Tuesday, May 16 from 20.00 - 23.00
An evening of fine dining, entertainment and Middle Eastern hospitality.

- JERUSALEM TOUR
Wednesday morning, May 17, 07:30-12:30 or Thursday afternoon, May 18,
12:30-17:30 (A lunchbox can be reserved.)
All participants are invited to join in a visit to the holy city of
Jerusalem. This tour includes the biblical and religious sites of old
Jerusalem as well as the exotic sights, sounds and smells of its
marketplace. The tour will focus on sites which are sacred to Christians,
Muslims and Jews: The Western 'Wailing' Wall, Dome of the Rock and El Aksa
Mosque, Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Jewish Quarter
(Cardo) and the oriental market.
Entrance fee to the Dome of the Rock (USD 7.-) to be paid by participants
on site.

CONFERENCE VENUE
The conference will be held at the Dan Panorama Hotel, which is the largest
convention hotel complex in Tel Aviv, overlooking the beachfront, only a
short walk from Tel Aviv's new commercial centers and close to the city
center. It distinguishes itself by a range of 5-star facilities and
services such as bars and a choice of restaurants, swimming pool, sundeck
and a fully equipped Health and Fitness Center. The Dan Panorama hotel is
located approximately 25 kilometers from Ben Gurion International Airport.

REGISTRATION FEE COVERS
The registration fee covers attendance to all conference sessions,
the Opening Reception, Gala Dinner, Jerusalem Tour as well as luncheons
and coffee or tea. Of course also all conference materials, including the
programme, full paper proceedings and other conference publications can be
found in the conference bag.
The accompanying person's fee includes the Opening Reception, the Gala
Dinner and the Jerusalem Tour. Attendance at the sessions, drinks or meals
during the day and conference materials are not included in this fee.

CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION
A letter confirming conference registration and hotel accommodation will be
sent to each participant upon receipt of the completed registration form
and accompanying payment.
This letter should be presented upon registration for the conference.

REGISTRATION DESK
The registration desk will be open on Sunday, May 14 8:00-18:00 and Monday,
May 15, from 08:00 to 20:00 and throughout the Conference from 8:00 to
18:00.

Hotel rates are in US dollars per night, and include full Israeli buffet
breakfast and service charges.
*Please note that the Metropolitan and City Hotel are at approximately 20
minutes walking distance from the Conference Center.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS
It is important to make hotel reservations early as rooms will be released
on April 10, 1995. In order to benefit from these rates, reservations and
payments for accommodation must be made through International Travel &
Congresses Ltd., and not directly to the hotel. Reservations should be made
as soon as possible on the enclosed Accommodation Form, accompanied by a
1 night accommodation per person.

CANCELLATION CONDITIONS FOR ACCOMMODATION / TOURS
Refund of accommodation and tour payment will be made if written

- Before April 1 - full refund less USD 40.- handling fee
- After April  1 - the cost of one night's accommodation and 25% of
                   the tour payments will be deducted.

OFFICIAL CARRIER
EL-AL is the official carrier for this conference.

FLIGHT RECONFIRMATION
Most airlines require reconfirmations for flights out of Israel 72 hours
before flight time. The Registration Desk will gladly reconfirm your
reservation for you if you bring them a copy of your ticket.

VISAS
Residents of most countries do not need entry visas to Israel, but we
suggest that you check with your local travel agent.

CURRENCY  / CREDIT CARDS
The unit of currency is the Israeli Shekel (IS). International credit
cards are accepted for payment in most hotels, restaurants and shops.
The exchange rate (December 1994):  USD 1.- is approximately IS 3.-

VOLTAGE
The electricity supply in Israel is 220 V AC.

WEATHER AND CLOTHING
May is pleasantly warm and dry. Average temperatures are 16-28 C (59-76 F).
Dress will be informal for most occasions. A light coat may be necessary
for the evenings. Comfortable walking shoes, head coverings and bathing
suits are also recommended.

THE CITY OF TEL AVIV - JAFFA
Tel Aviv is the commercial and entertainment capital of Israel. It lies
along the Mediterranean Sea. Tel Aviv houses many institutions of culture,
art and entertainment such as museums, theaters, the Philharmonic
Orchestra, and Tel Aviv University. Jaffa, now a neigbourhood of Tel Aviv,
is on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, south of Tel Aviv. According to
tradition it was named after Jepheth son of Noah, who built the town. Jaffa
served as an ancient Israeli port during the reign of King Solomon, and
later as a Hellenistic and Roman port. The ancient city of Jaffa has been
partially restored and today is an artists' colony and entertainment
center.

LOCAL TRANSFER
Transportation from Ben Gurion International Airport to Tel Aviv
(approx. 30 minutes) is available as follows:
- Taxi: approx USD 15.- per ride (night supplement of 25% after 18:00
  hours). To prevent problems please use the official taxi dispatcher at
  the airport.

- Airport Bus No. 222 (every hour on the hour)
  From Ben Gurion Airport to Tel Aviv. Approx. USD 4.- per person

TOUR A - 2 DAYS  GALILEE,  MAY 11 - 13, 1995

Thursday, May 11
Overnight in Metropolitan or Dan Panorama Hotel in Tel Aviv.

Friday, May 12
Drive northwards along the Mediterranean coast to Caesarea (antiquities of
Roman and Crusader periods). Arrive in Haifa, Israel's main port city.
Continue to Akko and the subterranean Crusader city. Drive through the
Galilean Hills to Safed, ancient city of the Kabbala and artists colony.
      Dinner and overnight Kibbutz Guest House

Saturday, May 13
Boat ride on the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinnereth). Visit Tabgha -
traditional site of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes: Capernaum -
ancient synagogue. Drive southward along the Rift Valley to view the
archaeological excavations at Beit Shean, which include a Byzantine city
and 1st century theater. Return to Tel Aviv. End of tour.

Pick up from your hotel and drive northwards to the ancient ruins of
Megiddo. Visit King Solomon's stables and the famous water tunnel. On to
Nazereth to visit the Church of the Annunciation. Visit the mystical city
of Safed, with its ancient synagogues and artists's quarter.
    Dinner and overnight at Kibbutz Guest House

Saturday, May 20
Tour the Golan Heights and visit the new city of Katzrin, capital of the
Golan. Enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Travel to Beit Shean to
tour the archaeological excavations, which include a Byzantine city and
1st century theater. Return to Tel Aviv.

   Price:    For a minimum of 15 participants
             - USD 196 per person sharing a twin room.
             - USD 235 per person in a single room.

Price includes: 1 night accommodation in a Kibbutz Guest House, entrance
fees, porterage, 1 dinner, 2 full touring days with an English-speaking
licensed guide and a modern air-conditioned bus. Not included are: tips,

for the last overnight in Tel Aviv may be reserved at the specified

TOUR D - HALF DAY TOUR TEL AVIV CITY (Monday, May 15)
Drive through the modern city of Tel Aviv. Visit the ancient port city of
Jaffa, with its cobblestone alleyways. On to the Tel Aviv University campus
to visit the Museum of the Diaspora.

    Price:  USD 22 per person

TOUR E - FULL DAY TOUR TO MASSADA & THE DEAD SEA (Tuesday, May 16)
Drive through the Judean Wilderness to the Dead Sea, lowest spot on
earth. Ascend by cable car to the Herodian fortress of Massada. See the
ancient water supply system, synagogue, Herod's palace, Roman camp, and
more. Descend by cable car and visit the Ein Gedi spa for a swim in the
Dead Sea. Return to Tel Aviv.

   Price:   USD 59  per person

TOUR F - FULL DAY TOUR TO CAESAREA, AKKO, HAIFA & ROSH HANIKRA (Wednesday,
May 17)
The tour includes Caesarea (Roman and Crusader ruins); Haifa, Mt. Carmel
and the Bahai Shrine; Akko, Crusader buildings and crypts; the grotto at
Rosh Hanikra.  Return to Tel Aviv.

   Price:  USD 53  per person

OPTIONAL DINNER & ENTERTAINMENT (Wednesday-evening,  May 17)
Dinner at a restaurant in Jaffa's Ancient Port proceeding on to one of
Israel's unique clubs in the Artist's Quarter of old Jaffa for an evening
of music and comedy.

    Price:  USD  55 per person.

    Price includes: Transfers by deluxe bus from/to Dan Panorama
                    Hotel accompanied by a hostess, Dinner and
