From fotis at ripe.net Fri Jul 23 13:18:15 1999 From: fotis at ripe.net (Fotis Georgatos) Date: Fri, 23 Jul 1999 13:18:15 +0200 Subject: Test Traffic mailing lists, downtimes, firewalls, GPS and ...summer Message-ID: <37984F77.8CC57011@ripe.net> Dear tt-hosts, People have suggested changes in the data-disclosure policies during the last couple of weeks. If you are not subscribed to tt-wg at ripe.net, please take a look at the archive http://www.ripe.net/mail-archives/tt-wg and give us your opinion before the next RIPE meeting. Note that if you want to post to tt-wg at ripe.net, we strongly advise you to be a subscriber to that list. If you have planed power outages, network maintenance downtimes, renumberings etc -affecting the testbox-, please inform us in advance. In this manner we can keep better track of hardware failures and discriminate between unplanned downtimes and the ones on purpose. In case you want to apply firewalls or filters please consider that we *need* to access the testbox from RIPE NCC subnetwork 193.0.0.0/23: * with ICMP packets (including "echo request/reply") for Ping/traceroute from the RIPE-NCC to the test-box. * and be able to receive email (port 25) for mail sent by the test-box to the RIPE-NCC. The best way to check the health of your GPS system is to go into our webpage on GPS information: http://www.ripe.net/test-traffic/Plots/gpsinfo.html Daily, weekly & monthly Plots in this page give a better idea about the variations in performance of your installation. Interpretation of the Plots is explained thoroughly at the end of the webpage, a rule of thumb is: A distribution which peaks at the right is the best. Summer is here, some of you are already on vacation (enjoy your holidays!), so do we in some of the next weeks. Please, use tt-ops at ripe.net instead of our personal addresses, so that you can be served by whoever is here, much faster than waiting someone to come back from holidays and process his full mailbox... Thank you in advance, Fotis Georgatos Henk Uijterwaal Rene Wilhelm
