From oleg at ripe.net Fri Aug 5 19:19:24 2022 From: oleg at ripe.net (Oleg Muravskiy) Date: Fri, 5 Aug 2022 19:19:24 +0200 Subject: [routing-wg] Announcement of new RIS prototype services Message-ID: Dear RIS users, Over the past few months, we have created several prototype services that expose RIS data in different ways. These services provide a REST API, and the data they expose is closer to real-time, as compared to our traditional "bview" and "updates" files. These services are: - Per-peer dumps https://ris.ripe.net/docs/40_Prototypes/10_per_peer_dumps.html - Per-RRC dumps https://ris.ripe.net/docs/40_Prototypes/15_per_rrc_dumps.html - Peer metadata https://ris.ripe.net/docs/40_Prototypes/20_peer_metadata.html Please take a look at the documentation (links provided above), try out these new services, and tell us what we can improve! We would love to hear your feedback. Since we're posting this message across multiple mailing lists, we ask you to please share your feedback on the ris-users at ripe.net mailing list, or write to us directly at ris at ripe.net rather than on this list. We also want to ensure that ARIN and the greater RPKI community are prepared in the unlikely event that access to ARIN?s RPKI repository becomes unavailable. We encourage operators utilizing ARIN?s RPKI repository data to follow the best practices as described in RFC 7115 / BCP 185 ? specifically falling back to routing based on unvalidated announcements (i.e. NotFound validity state) in the absence of RPKI data availability. In July of 2021, ARIN removed external access to repository services to exercise Relying Party software resilience. During the month of September, ARIN will be testing the robustness of RPKI infrastructure against various failure modes. This test will include a 60-minute window where ARIN?s RPKI repository services (RRDP & rsync) will be made unavailable. ARIN recommends all organizations review their RPKI deployments in preparation for this test. ARIN thanks you for your understanding as we take the necessary steps to keep our RPKI infrastructure running at peak performance, as expected by those who have embraced RPKI as a component to enhancing routing security. We encourage everyone to follow best practices in your use of RPKI so that it may become widely deployed in the Internet community in a responsible manner. It is important for us at the RIPE NCC to learn what the Routing Working Group thinks about the nine questions in relation to the service criticality. So if you haven?t yet, please provide us with your thoughts. This will help us decide on many things in relation to RPKI, including service level objectives, security controls, as well as how we use cloud services in relation to RPKI. More information on the overall project is at: https://labs.ripe.net/author/razvano/service-criticality-framework/ As Job said, you can provide your input free form or you can follow the template. The most important thing is that we do get your input :) Many thanks, Nathalie Trenaman Routing Security Programme Manager RIPE NCC > On 27 Jun 2022, at 17:58, Job Snijders via routing-wg wrote: > > Dear all, > > RIPE NCC has asked the Routing WG Chairs to facilitate a working group > conversation on framing RIPE NCC's RPKI services subcomponents in terms > of criticality. > > At the bottom of this email is a form that focusses on three components: > confidentiality, integrity and availability.
