Dear RIPE Atlas ambassadors, Conferences are a great opportunity to hand out RIPE Atlas probes, and we’ve made it easier than ever for the RIPE Atlas community to come together at such events. On the RIPE Atlas conference page, you can now list any conferences you'll be attending where you’ll be handing out RIPE Atlas probes. If you don’t see a conference listed, let us know and we’ll add it for you. And whenever you’re at a conference, use the hashtag #RIPEAtlas to spread the word and let people know they can get a probe from you. https://atlas.ripe.net/get-involved/community/#!conferences We are very happy that there are now 8,000+ probes connected around the globe - and with your help, we know we can reach our goal of 10,000! The more you can help distribute probes to places where there is currently a shortage, the more beneficial the RIPE Atlas network will become for the entire Internet community: https://labs.ripe.net/Members/emileaben/distribution-of-ripe-atlas-probes Other RIPE Atlas News: You may be interested to know that we’re working closely with other RIRs, including APNIC, AFRINIC and LACNIC, to deploy RIPE Atlas probes and anchors in those regions where we need them most. You can read more about this cooperation here: AFRINIC: http://afrinic.net/en/initiatives/afrinicripe-atlas APNIC: http://blog.apnic.net/2015/03/10/apnic-supporting-deployment-of-internet-measurements-project/ LACNIC (in three languages): http://www.lacnic.net/en/web/lacnic/ripe-atlas And in March, we held the first-ever RIPE Atlas hackathon, which was a big success! Read all about the impressive results: https://labs.ripe.net/Members/becha/ripe-atlas-hackathon-results Your Frequently Asked Questions: Q: How do I ask for more probes? A: Send an email to mcb at ripe.net. Note that we will be checking that at least 50% of the probes assigned to you are already online before we send more. Q: How can I find out whether the probes I distributed are online? A: As an ambassador, when logged in to the RIPE Atlas website, you can see the status of the probes you’ve handed out. When they are connected and registered, their status will be listed as “hosted”: https://atlas.ripe.net/ambassadors/probes/ Thank you again for helping us build the world’s largest Internet measurement network, and happy distributing!
