As regards sustainability, I think that researchers need well conceived and articulated architectures of ***physical*** deployments of telecommunications networks. The analyzed substrate must be declared with as much transparency as possible. A primary limiting factor is the degree of willingness by operators to disclose implementational details. Abstractions that conceal physical elements lack conviction.
