From mwinter at opensourcerouting.org Thu Mar 14 19:05:00 2013 From: mwinter at opensourcerouting.org (Martin Winter) Date: Fri, 15 Mar 2013 01:05:00 +0700 Subject: [opensource-wg] OpenSource Discussions at upcoming RIPE Meeting Message-ID: <9252338E-AF7C-4D07-920B-F6B7D524E0ED@opensourcerouting.org> Hey everyone, things are slowly moving into place. We now have a slot at the next RIPE meeting in Dublin, but still trying to confirm the length of it. We hope for a 2 hour slot as it was discussed at the closing plenary during the last RIPE meeting. We have a few ideas on what should/can be presented, but would love to get more feedback from the community. Is there some OpenSource software you are using in your network and we should try to get some of the authors to attend? Maybe you know them personally? Anyone here involved in OpenSource and wants to give an update on the project? Additionally, I would like to do some roundtable to talk about financing OpenSource software. I would love to get a few people involved in OpenSource projects to come and talk about their success and struggle - and have a discussion with the community on why they give (or don't give) any support in financial or any other ways to an opensource project. Now is the time to speak up: What do you like to hear / discuss in relation to OpenSource software? Which projects should we try to invite? Discussion is open... - Martin Winter From wolfgang.tremmel at de-cix.net Mon Mar 18 09:27:26 2013 From: wolfgang.tremmel at de-cix.net (Wolfgang Tremmel) Date: Mon, 18 Mar 2013 09:27:26 +0100 Subject: [opensource-wg] OpenSource Discussions at upcoming RIPE Meeting In-Reply-To: <9252338E-AF7C-4D07-920B-F6B7D524E0ED@opensourcerouting.org> References: <9252338E-AF7C-4D07-920B-F6B7D524E0ED@opensourcerouting.org> Message-ID: <481BC590-9241-4240-96E4-DC945C1FAA78@de-cix.net> Hi Martin, On 14.03.2013, at 19:05, Martin Winter wrote: > > We have a few ideas on what should/can be presented, but would love to get more feedback from the community. Being the customer support guy of DE-CIX I would like that not only network management stuff is discussed, but also things used to run ISPs/IXPs. The open source software we here at support use most is RT (RequestTracker). cheers, Wolfgang -- Wolfgang Tremmel e-mail: wolfgang.tremmel at de-cix.net DE-CIX Management GmbH Phone: +49 69 1730 902-26 Lindleystr. 12, 60314 Frankfurt Mobile: +49 171 8600 816 Geschaeftsfuehrer Harald A. Anyone wants to comment? Anyone else here using RT? Could you comment on what specific you want to discuss related to RT? One choice would be trying to convince anyone from the developers to attend RIPE and having some presentation or Q&A session. Anyone here having contacts to some of the key people (and could ask them if they want to attend RIPE to talk about RT?) - Martin On Mar 18, 2013, at 3:27 PM, Wolfgang Tremmel wrote: > Hi Martin, > > On 14.03.2013, at 19:05, Martin Winter wrote: > >> >> We have a few ideas on what should/can be presented, but would love to get more feedback from the community.
