Now we need to ask our self what is next, what is the individual expectation from this list ? I would like to here your view of what is next what are your expectation for this list? I hope we will see active participation from the members in answering the above question, in the same level and motivation "if not better" as what we have seen in introducing our contacts. For your information, we have nearly 40 replies for sharing contacts and that made me surprised. If some of the members wouldn't start sharing their contacts, then we wouldn't have resonant messages. I think more or less, all members of middle east region are now aware of this sharing outreach. Some members may prefer not to share and we respect their privacy levels. I have asked my colleague to review all messages and make up contact table out them.[including Tel,Fax, Email,Address and Title] In next step, I propose to establish a Cooperation/Coordination Center (C3) for middle east region. This Center would be established virtually without any physical office. Later we can assign a few volunteer staff to help us running this center. The center activities would be categorized to following tasks: 1- Internet Governance issues in Middle East 2- Developing E-Business in Middle East region (More dialoge - More benefits) 3- Sharing experices for Networking/IPv6 and Internet Exchange Points 4- Participating in ICANN / Governmental Advisory Committee and At Large Advisory Committee [ icann.org / gac.icann.org] 5- Participating in Internet Governance Forum of United Nations [http://www.intgovforum.org/] 6- Running Regional Seminars and Conferences in Middle East countries. We can add some more tasks to this center and even young people can join this center for executive purposes. I wish you all best and waiting for your valuable comments. PS. I was in ICANN Meeting in Wellington [New Zealand] last week. ICANN is interested to have more active members from middle east region especially in Governmental Advisory Committee. Now we need to ask our self what is next, what is the individual expectation from this list ? I would like to here your view of what is next what are your expectation for this list? I hope we will see active participation from the members in answering the above question, in the same level and motivation "if not better" as what we have seen in introducing our contacts. MENA was always there, and Internet subjects like e-business, e-Government, IPv6, Internet exchanges and relevant issues were used to be discussed either through different Arab regional summits or MENA bodies. On the other hand, such involvement would help in tighten and enhance the Internet business relationships development between these countries and the Middle East countries; I believe both regions are sharing the same visions and Internet future needs. Again, many thanks to RIPE NCC and Alireza for this initiative and the followed suggestions to build C3ME, but again C3MENA can also be true and can give more valuable ideas to the same since it would include new subjects specific to both regions i.e the Arabic domain names, GCC internet bodies/activities, the Arab ITU Internet related subjects, MENA IPv6 task force, Arab e-Governments, e-Business and B2B entities. Thanks to all, and looking forward to hearing from you. To my friends in this mailing list, I should add that I met Baher Esmat during ICANN Wellington Meeting [2 weeks ago] and I think he has started his mission in year 2006. I found him energetic and that is great for our region. He is a potential for Middle East to extend the interface between ICANN and entities in our region. Getting back to C3 initiative, I also support Moeen Agrabawi's contribution. C3 could have more benefits by having same concerns included in its body. C3MENA is standing for "Collaboration & Coordination Center for Middle East & North Africa" regarding Internet Governance, Networking Infrastructure & IT development issues. I think later on, we can also invite Anne Rachel to join our mailing list as I think she is going to be ICANN liaison for Africa and as much as I know her, she is also full of potential for Africa region. I will appreciate other contribution for C3MENA. As I have been involved in W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) for my academic research, I have noticed that all members of mailing list are always encouraged to post their comments on proposed Drafts for new Web Standards. I have been always surprised with contributions and even small messages coming from each member of professional mailing lists. Everybody was involved. Here in C3MENA We can also make some incentives for all members to start commenting and giving us their idea which according to each member's background, it will be valuable for all of us. In next coming weeks, we have to focus on what issues we can include in C3MENA and how we can establish it. C3 could have more benefits by having same concerns included in its body. C3MENA is standing for "Collaboration & Coordination Center for Middle East & North Africa" regarding Internet Governance, Networking Infrastructure & IT development issues. Since I was not following the discussions from the beginning, I'm not sure what is meant by IT development issues, is it software and systems development or something more generic? Also, and since most of us are coming from the developing world, capacity building turns to be a key-issue for our societies and their ICT development.. Again, I wonder if this issue will be tackled under each of the 3 main topics mentioned above.. I think later on, we can also invite Anne Rachel to join our mailing list as I think she is going to be ICANN liaison for Africa and as much as I know her, she is also full of potential for Africa region. I support this idea because as you rightly said, Anne-Rachel has been very active in the Internet community at large and particularly in Africa.. She has also been involved with the WSIS since the early beginning..
