This is an exciting milestone that the entire RIPE NCC membership should be proud of. The RIPE NCC fully embraces the addition of so many new members from all 76 countries in its service region and from an expanding range of industries. The RIPE NCC is committed to providing support and guidance to all its members and fostering a spirit of cooperation among them. We believe that the open processes of the RIPE NCC are fundamental to the expansion of the membership. These processes are developed in line with feedback received from our members and the policies decided by the RIPE community, so the current growth rate is testament to the successful collaboration among the RIPE NCC, its members and the wider community. While this is a landmark to be proud of, we are also conscious that such growth brings its own challenges in terms of integrating new members. New members are joining from all corners of the service region, and we must be diligent in reaching out to these organisations and ensuring that they feel fully part of the membership, while maintaining excellent support and service for our longer-term members. Personally, I find it extremely rewarding to see members from very different countries and industries coming together in person and online to discuss common issues and concerns, and deciding among themselves the best way forward for the association. The RIPE NCC management and the Executive Board are prepared to meet any challenges that the organisation may face going forward. An increased membership, reflecting the full diversity of the Internet community, allows us to work together with a greater pool of knowledge and it gives us a much stronger voice than if we were to proceed separately. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all members for their support and help in bringing us to our current position. We look forward to working together to increase the strength of the membership in the coming years. Around 60 representatives of governments, national regulators and industry participated, making it the largest RIPE NCC Roundtable Meeting to date. The agenda of the meeting covered a range of topics including a particular focus on developments in Internet governance. Paul Rendek, RIPE NCC Director of External Relations, led a wide-ranging discussion about the increase in groups and forums dealing with Internet governance issues, including the recently formed 1Net and the upcoming NETmundial meeting in Brazil. He stressed the RIPE NCC?s strong support for the Internet Governance Forum as the key venue for multi-stakeholder consideration of such topics. Alain Van Gaever, Co-Chair of the RIPE Cooperation Working Group, gave attendees an update on recent activities in the working group, including the workplan proposed by the three co-chairs late last year. The afternoon session looked at the RIPE NCC?s recent and upcoming engagement activities in two areas: the institutions of the European Union, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This led into general discussion of capacity-building activities and cooperation between the public and private sectors. The RIPE NCC would like to acknowledge the cooperation of the European Commission in coordinating the organisation of this meeting adjacent to a meeting of the Commission?s High Level Group on Internet Governance (HLIG). This cooperation has been vital in reaching out to new public sector representatives and facilitating their participation. The RIPE NCC will hold its next Roundtable Meeting in the second half of 2014. If you have any questions or comments regarding RIPE NCC Roundtable Meetings, please send them via email to . This project comes in response to feedback received via the RIPE NCC Survey 2013 and various other feedback mechanisms. The specific action items identified in the survey were to: - Improve navigation, structure and usability - Improve the search functionality Work on the website will take place throughout 2014, and we will involve RIPE NCC members and the RIPE community in the project at various stages. We'll be asking for feedback via a survey on our website, conducting interviews with users and reporting back at all stages on developments. From next week, we will also deploy a web analytics tool on our website to help us better understand how it is being used. We will use Piwik for this purpose, free/open-source software that is installed on our own servers. The information gathered will be anonymised, it will not leave our network and the software will obey the "Do Not Track" option for those who would prefer not to have their activity on the website measured. The data will be used solely to help us improve the website. More information on Piwik is available at: http://piwik.org/ All the feedback on the website received in the RIPE NCC Survey 2013, including the full list of action areas for the RIPE NCC, is available at: https://www.ripe.net/lir-services/member-support/info/surveys/ripe-ncc-survey-2013 If you have any questions or comments about the project, please let me know.
