As the global Internet community considers changes to the NTIA oversight of key DNS functions, the RIPE NCC wishes to assure the Internet community that our commitment to providing this service and to coordinating appropriately with ICANN and the other root server operators will not be affected by the outcome of these discussions. The RIPE NCC is a not-for-profit membership association under Dutch law. It is governed by its General Meeting and Executive Board, and is guided by the RIPE community. Root name servers are a crucial part of the Internet DNS infrastructure and the RIPE NCC?s role in this area is supported by the membership for the benefit of the global Internet community. In an open letter to ICANN in 2009, the RIPE NCC affirmed our mutual commitment to coordination of DNS root name service operations, acknowledging that a single, unique DNS root is paramount to the stable operations of the Internet and to ensuring global reachability: https://ripe.net/s/kr2h We remain committed to the principles expressed in this letter, and will continue working to operationalise them, independent of changes to the IANA stewardship. More information about RIPE NCC's operation of K-root is available at: http://k.root-servers.org/ Best regards, Axel Pawlik Managing Director RIPE NCC From raci at ripe.net Thu Aug 21 14:50:19 2014 From: raci at ripe.net (The RACI Coordination Team) Date: Thu, 21 Aug 2014 14:50:19 +0200 Subject: [ncc-announce] [meetings] RIPE Academic Cooperation Initiative (RACI) - Applications Open Message-ID: <53F5EB0B.6060901@ripe.net> Dear colleagues, This is a reminder that we are still accepting applications from academics to attend the RIPE 69 Meeting in London from 3-7 November as part of the RIPE Academic Cooperation Initiative (RACI): http://www.ripe.net/ripe/raci The package for successful applicants includes the cost of RIPE Meeting tickets, accommodation, travel to and from London, lunch every day of the meeting and tickets to social events. Information on RACI at RIPE 69, including a link to the application form, is available at: https://ripe69.ripe.net/programme/raci/ Why RACI? -------------- RACI gives students and researchers a unique opportunity to present their work to leading technical figures in the Internet world, receive feedback on their research from experts, and have their work published on the RIPE Labs website for community feedback. RACI also benefits the RIPE community by introducing new members who can contribute to RIPE discussions with fresh ideas and perspectives. Students and researchers may wish to present topics relevant to the RIPE community, including (but not limited to): - Network measurement and analysis - IPv6 deployment - BGP routing - Network security - Internet governance Please spread the word among your networks and encourage suitable applicants to submit their interest. RIPE Academic Cooperation Mailing List -------------------------------------- An academic cooperation mailing list is now available for those with an interest in the academic side of networking, as well as RACI itself. The goal of the list is to maintain and strengthen ties between the RIPE and academic communities by providing a platform for members of each community to connect and discuss matters of common interest. The mailing list is public and you are invited to join today: https://www.ripe.net/mailman/listinfo/raci-list/ Kind regards, The RACI Coordination Team (Chris Buckridge, Fergal Cunningham, Fatemah Mafi) From training at ripe.net Tue Aug 26 15:58:00 2014 From: training at ripe.net (Training Services) Date: Tue, 26 Aug 2014 15:58:00 +0200 Subject: [ncc-announce] [training] IP Address Space Course this November in London Message-ID: <53FC9268.2010605@ripe.net> Dear colleagues, We are happy to announce a new RIPE NCC training course that will take place on the Sunday before the RIPE 69 Meeting in London this November.
