The document addresses a range of issues that will be discussed at the upcoming ITU World Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum 2013 (WTPF-13): https://www.ripe.net/internet-coordination/internet-governance/multi-stakeholder-engagement/itu/rirs-submission-to-the-wtpf-13 In mid-April, various RIPE community members gave feedback on a draft of this document. It was updated ahead of its official submission and now includes more detailed information to address some of the opinions discussed by the Informal Expert Group (IEG) that was convened in preparation for the WTPF-13. An annex has been added outlining the efforts of the five RIRs to support the deployment of IPv6 and IPv6 capacity building. Representatives of all five RIRs will be present at WTPF-13 and, as always, are available for consultation on any of the points raised in this document, as well as any other aspects of RIR business. RIPE community members are encouraged to comment or raise questions on the RIPE Cooperation Working Group mailing list. The court found the RIPE NCC's claim to be inadmissible on procedural grounds, which meant that our legal argument was never examined and we were unable to gain clarity on our position. You can find more information on this series of events here: https://www.ripe.net/internet-coordination/news/about-ripe-ncc-and-ripe/ripe-nccs-case-against-the-state-of-the-netherlands-dismissed While we are disappointed with the outcome, the RIPE NCC carefully weighed the options and decided not to appeal the court's decision. We feel that the time and resources needed to pursue this matter further would outweigh the likelihood of a clear result. As a result of this experience, the RIPE NCC has re-affirmed the principles that guide how we will act if presented with similar orders in future. The RIPE NCC: - Remains committed to protecting the interests of its members - Will only execute legally binding orders - Will judge each order on its own merits We have published a document on our website that outlines how we will handle such orders in future: https://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/ripe-588/ Kind regards Axel Pawlik Managing Director RIPE NCC -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... You can take the survey at: https://www.ripe.net/survey2013 We ask that you take this very important survey for the RIPE NCC and the RIPE community, and that you encourage your colleagues and contacts to participate. This survey will allow us to assess our services and activities, identify areas for improvement, and help shape our strategy for the coming years. The survey is carried out by the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), which guarantees anonymity for participants and independent assessment of results. It will remain open until 17 June 2013. The results will be presented at the RIPE 67 Meeting in Athens. There are no limits on who can take the survey. RIPE NCC members as well as other interested parties globally are asked to participate. If many people in the same organisation would like to take the survey, they are welcome to do so. The survey conducted in 2011 by the OII provided us with 52 key findings that the RIPE NCC was able to act on, and we hope this survey will provide similarly useful feedback. This is your chance to let the RIPE NCC know exactly what you think and give your suggestions for how the organisation should operate. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity. Prize Draws ----------- To encourage participation, the RIPE NCC is offering participants the chance to win an iPad if they complete the survey. The first prize was offered to those attending or remotely participating in the RIPE 66 Meeting in Dublin on 17 May. Congratulations to the winner, Brendan Minish. The next iPad will drawn from those who have completed the survey by 14:00 UTC next Monday, 27 May. If you complete the survey by then, you will be included in later prize draws, giving you more chances to win. If you have any questions about the survey, you can email us at .
