About 2 months ago, I downloaded and installed the RIPE
WHOIS server software and set up NRTM to whois.ripe.net. It seems to be
running okay. The last line of my ripupdlog says: "forwarded to
serial:5901142"
I have noticed that queries directed
at whois.ripe.net get different results than queries directed at my local
server:
# ripewhois -h 193.0.0.135
85.0.0.0
inetnum: 85.0.0.0 -
85.7.255.255
...
# ripewhois -h 127.0.0.1 -p 43001
85.0.0.0
inetnum: 80.0.0.0 -
88.255.255.255
...
I'm wondering why they are
different. I've tried using -m with the local server to get a more
specific result but it reports: %ERROR:101: no entries found
I've noticed that the "changed"
attribute for the inetnum returned from whois.ripe.net indicates
"20050125". My local server was down during that time. Would it not
have caught up when I brought it up again? If not, how do I get a new
mysqldump to bring my server up to date?
Thanks
