Nobody has claimed it would be difficult or impossible, it's just that nobody has implemented it so far.

If you would like to see this functionality you can implement it yourself and send a pull request to https://github.com/RIPE-NCC/whois.

You could also use the NWI procedure (https://www.ripe.net/manage-ips-and-asns/db/numbered-work-items). This would essentially mean that the db-wg instructs the NCC's developers to implement the feature.
