I need help. I'm a student. A part of my summer practice is to setup a whois server ,under Fedore Core 4,running at port 43 . Mainly it's database ,should contain the registered domain names, creation date, expiration date, update date, "black list" and other related information. So far, I have compiled and installed RIPE Whois Server 3.3.0. It works very well with the SAMPLEDB. But I haven't seen such a field as expiration date. Usually in whois lookups I get such kind of information. I have to create it manually ? Or it is kept in other field ? However if you like you can create it yourself (see defs/attributes.xml, defs/syntax.xml files), but this can also require a substantial code changes depending on how you want to handle this field. What you have seen in the whois output has probably come from another whois database, not RIPE database. > Hello ! > > I need help. > > I'm a student. We are not a repository for domain names. Where forward domain objects exist in the RIPE Whois Database, they often contain a "refer:" attribute. This references the authoritative database for information on this domain. The information returned by querying for this domain object in the RIPE Whois Database actually comes from this other referenced database. The information you listed in your mail that you are interested in is all domain related details. This information is not contained in the RIPE Whois Database. regards Denis Walker Software Engineering Department RIPE NCC Katie Petrusha wrote: >On Sun, Jun 11, 2006 at 04:11:44PM +0300, Nicolae Ghimbovschi wrote: > >Dear Nicolae, > >There is indeed no such a field in the RIPE database. >However if you like you can create it yourself (see defs/attributes.xml, >defs/syntax.xml files), but this can also require a substantial code >changes depending on how you want to handle this field. > >What you have seen in the whois output has probably come from another >whois database, not RIPE database. > > > >>Hello ! >> >>I need help. >> >> I'm a student.
