Whois server itself isn't IPv6 compliant, that is, it can't currently answer queries from ipv6 hosts. However, we implemented a a proxy that acts as a bridge between ipv6 hosts and and ipv4 whois server, which you can find at: ftp://ftp.ripe.net/ripe/dbase/software/v6wpd-latest.tar.gz There is also some documentation on how to setup and use it in the package.
