Hi,

(copying in the list, as others might run into the same issues)

This is what I tried following.

The BootDrive was already set right ("81 first"):

> show BootDrive
 = 81 80 F0 FF

... I dd'ed the image to a nice and shiny 8G USB stick (the "20 years
RIPE NCC" stick, incidentially), put it into the front USB port, and
powercycled the box.

It can *see* the USB stick...

SATA AHCI BIOS ver. 0.61 20121115 Copyright (C) 2003-2011 Intel Corporation

Controller Bus#02, Device#06, Function#00: 02 Ports, 01 Devices
  Port-00: Hard Disk, INTEL SSDMCEAC240B3
  Port-01: No device detected

Soekris USB Expansion ROM ver. 1.01 20111203

81: USB 01 Xlt -2-32 Mbyte

(the "81: USB 01..." line is not there when the stick is not in), even
thugh the message is a bit weird.

It does not want to boot from it, though...

1 Seconds to automatic boot. Press Ctrl-P for entering Monitor.

PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.

No Boot device available, enter monitor.

comBIOS Monitor. Press ? for help.

... so I tried another stick (4G, this time), and *that one* was
properly recognized:

81: USB 01 USB 2.0 USB Flash Drive Xlt 988-128-63 3987 Mbyte

... and starts to install... \o/

So -> if it isn't working for you, try another USB stick, don't use
RIPE-provide ones... *duck*
