At 06:55p +0100 05/10/2004, Dave Wilson didst inscribe upon an
electronic papyrus:
So I propose that our recommendation should not be to those who run
mail servers, but should be to those who produce anti-virus and mail
filtering software. I suggest this: that anti-virus software should,
when flagging a mail as containing a virus, also indicate if the
virus in question is known to forge headers.
I would like a standard header (or body text) which indicates that
the message was bounced due to antivirus software, regardless of
forging knowledge. I've already set up my filter rules to delete all
such bounces, since it is 100% impossible for any virus to come from
me; however, the wording of such bounces varies greatly so I'm always
updating my filter rules.
This is not exactly UBE so is not entirely appropriate for RIPE-206.
It might fit in a slightly more general BCP.
Standardizing bounce messages for machine readability...
