Sure. This has been more and more common over a few years, especially
with 'fly by night' spammers. Main-stream, big name spammers
generally don't do this (nor do they sell viagra or penis
enlargement tools). Notice also the increasing popularity of different
characters between the w*o.r_D-s,  mime (with obfuscating comments) and
mime quoted-printable characters, plus base-64 encoding.
