NRO NC Election 2016: Result

We are pleased to announce that Filiz Yilmaz was re-elected to the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) at a Plenary session of the RIPE 73 Meeting in Madrid on 28 October 2016.

Verisign to Provide Secondary DNS Services for the RIPE NCC’s Zones

In July we published a Request for Proposals (RfP) for a trusted third party to provide secondary DNS services for the RIPE NCC's zones. Following our announcement, we received three final proposals by the conclusion of the process. We selected the best fitting proposal based on the technical and non-technical requirements in the RfP document. We'd like to express our gratitude to all parties who submitted proposals.

IANA Stewardship Transition Completed

On 1 October 2016, the IANA functions contract that the United States Government had with ICANN was allowed to expire. This represents the final step in the community-led IANA stewardship transition process that began in 2014. Oversight of IANA is now the responsibility of the Names, Numbers and Protocol Parameters communities that rely on its services.

RIPE NCC Receives /18 from IANA’s Recovered Pool

On 1 September 2016, the RIPE NCC and other Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) were each allocated the equivalent of a /18 of IPv4 address space from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA).

General Meeting October 2016 – Registration Open

The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) will take place from 26-28 October 2016 in the Meliá Castilla Hotel in Madrid, Spain, adjacent to the RIPE 73 Meeting.

RIPE NCC Receives /15 from IANA's Recovered Pool

Yesterday, on 1 March 2016, the RIPE NCC and other Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) were each allocated the equivalent of a /15 of IPv4 address space from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). The RIPE NCC received the IPv4 address ranges 45.65.64.0/18, 147.78.0.0/16, 192.144.0.0/18 and 192.145.0.0/17. We are currently adding these to our available pool.

Board Resolution to Suspend Creation of Multiple LIR Accounts

On 18 November 2015, the RIPE NCC Executive Board held a Board Meeting in which it made a resolution to temporarily restrict the ability of RIPE NCC members to acquire additional LIR accounts. The resolution also temporarily suspends existing, ongoing or pending requests of RIPE NCC members to open additional LIR accounts.
