RIPE NCC Roundtable Meeting with Europol

cooperation lea news europol

On 5 September 2018, we attended a roundtable meeting hosted by Europol's European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) in the Hague.

This was a good opportunity to provide a general refresh on RIPE and the RIPE NCC. During our discussions, we outlined our fraud reporting procedures and gave an update on our implementation of the recently-accepted RIPE policy on abuse contact validation that the EC3 co-authored. There was also a general discussion on the challenges law enforcement faces when dealing with crimes that involve the use of IP addresses and ASNs.

This activity follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) we signed with Europol in 2016, where we agreed to exchange technical expertise in the areas of cybercrime and Internet security as part of our ongoing cooperation.
