What You Can Do

The RIPE NCC is now allocating IPv4 address space from the last /8. According to section 5.1 of the IPv4 Address Allocation and Assignment Policies for the RIPE NCC Service Region, RIPE NCC members can request a one-time /22 (1,024 IPv4 addresses) allocation if they plan to make assignments with this address space. Non members cannot request IPv4 address space from the RIPE NCC.

Deploy IPv6 Now

Your first /32 IPv6 allocation from the RIPE NCC will not incur any extra fees.

It is now imperative that you invest in your IPv6 networks. If you do not deploy IPv6, your networks cannot grow and the future expansion of the Internet could be compromised. IPv4 and IPv6 do not talk directly to each other. This means that, in the future, if your content and services are only available over IPv4 a potential customer using IPv6 will not be able to access your website. To combat this problem, all organisations in both the public and private sector need to deploy IPv6 and run it alongside IPv4 (known as dual stacking) for the foreseeable future., operated by the RIPE NCC, offers information on everything you need to be aware of and plan for when deploying IPv6 on your network and includes case studies, interviews with RIPE community representatives who have already deployed IPv6, transition mechanisms, IPv6 deployment statistics, the latest IPv6-related news and more.
